1. What TurnoutSafe is

TurnoutSafe is a tool that helps fire service members document inspections of turnout gear (personal protective equipment) and send inspection reports to their department.

2. Not a substitute for your PPE program

The TurnoutSafe checklist is modeled on NFPA 1850 (formerly NFPA 1851) inspection guidance. It is not certified, approved or endorsed by NFPA. TurnoutSafe does not replace your department's PPE program, the gear manufacturer's instructions, advanced inspections, cleaning or repairs by qualified personnel, or professional judgment. Your department is responsible for its own inspection program and for determining whether gear is fit for service.

3. Accounts and access

Department admins are responsible for the members they add, the badge numbers and companies they assign, and the email addresses reports are routed to. Members are responsible for keeping their passwords private.
